State and Public Agencies generally include
  • States, their departments, divisions, and other instrumentality.
  • Political subdivisions of states, including cities, counties, and other local government units and economic development districts.
  • Instrumentality created by compact or other agreements between state or political subdivisions
  • Indian tribes, bands, groups, pueblos, or communities located on state reservations.
  • Instrumentality created by compact or other agreements between state or political subdivisions.

Surplus Property acquired through the Mississippi Office of Surplus must be used by the public agency to carry out or to promote for the residents of a given political area one or more public purposes. Absolutely no property may be obtained for personal use. Activities and functions involved in designated public programs may include but are not limited to:

  • Conservation
  • Economic Development
  • Public Education
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Public Health
  • Public Safety
  • Public Airport
  • Programs for Older Americans
  • Local, City, County, or State Government
  • Indian Tribe, Band, Group, or Pueblo
  • Volunteer Fire/Rescue Squads- must provide training schedule & Funding letter
  • Other Public Purposes

  • Program Narrative (space is provided on page 2 application)
  • Sales Tax Exemption Ruling Letter
  • Want list (space provided on page 2 of application)
  • If applicable, a copy of license or accreditation
