The Department of Finance and Administration and the Department of Information Technology Services have established an electronic payments infrastructure to allow State agencies to accept and process credit cards and other electronic financial transactions over the Internet, expanding the number of services that the State can offer to citizens.

The State currently contracts with an Application Service Provider (ASP), who acts as an interface between agency web applications and the payment processor. In addition to performing real-time payment authorization and settlement of funds with the payment processor, the ASP provides settled transaction detail used to build accounts receivable (YZ) documents in the Mississippi's Accountability System for Government Information and Collaboration (MAGIC).
