There are two types of MERLIN users. The type determines how information is accessed from the data warehouse. The user types are:
MERLIN.net User - The user may view detail and summary data and has the ability to use standard reports or create ad hoc reports via the Internet.
Analyst User - The user may view detail and summary data and has the ability to use/modify standard reports or create ad hoc reports. The analyst user requires the purchase of a license for Cognos Impromptu User software. Analyst users are automatically provided with MERLIN.net access.
Access to specific data in MERLIN is based on security groups. Click the following link to view the MERLIN Security Group Definitions.
On-line Security Access Request
The MERLIN.net ad hoc query relies on certain functional features of a web browser. The application is optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher. Refer to theInternet Explorer website for minimum operating system, hardware, and memory requirements.
The following minimum configuration is necessary to run the Cognos Impromptu User software and the various connectivity software pieces:
The client system also requires a correctly configured TCP/IP connection to either the State of Mississippiintranet or to the Internet. The application will work over any TCP/IP enabled network including Ethernet,Token Ring or dial-up.
Note: All training on MERLIN software assumes Windows environment literacy.
