J.K. “Hoopy” Stringer, Jr.

Hoopy grew up in Pike County Mississippi and graduated from McComb High School and Southwest Mississippi Junior College.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Upon his retirement from the Marine Corps, Colonel Stringer returned to Mississippi where he served as executive director of the State Personnel Board for ten years and as executive director of the Department of Finance and Administration for five years. He then served two years as the county administrator of Rankin County.
He is married to the former Dana Sharp and has four children and eight grandchildren.
